The Surgical Technologist II, under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, prepares and assembles materials, supplies and equipment required for surgical procedures. Provides scrub assistance to the surgeon and surgical assistant and is directly responsible for maintaining aseptic integrity during the surgical procedure. The Technologist assists with care and safety of patients and other team members. Assists with department inventory/par levels by maintaining instruments, supplies and equipment. The individual assists in cost containment through effective and appropriate use of time, supplies and equipment.

Skills/Requirements:

Surgical Technology Certification strongly preferred. Maintains Basic Life Support.
Possesses organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to utilize effective communication in patient/staff/physician/ interdepartmental relationships.
Ability to maintain stable performance levels under conditions of pressure and multiple demands.
Must possess basic surgical case preparation skills and the ability to perform the role of first scrub on all basic surgical cases in assigned specialty area(s).
Must also have the knowledge and practice of basic patient care concepts and application of the principles of asepsis.
This 8 hour position in our Surgical Services Department includes Operating Room and Endoscopy. with varying start times of 0700 and 1100.
