Pharmacy Technician Inpatient

Location: Milwaukee, WI

Prepares large and small parenterals with additives and other extemporaneous sterile products and stock medication. Utilizes the computerized pharmacy system for ordering patient IVs. Handles the daily filling of patient medication drawers for the unit dose system; packages medications as needed. Assists the staff pharmacist by filling prescriptions, physician orders, and refill orders. Communicates with nursing and other staff members.

Skills/Requirements

High school diploma or GED required. Pharmacy Technician Certification and previous inpatient pharmacy tech experience is strongly preferred.

Good oral and written communications skills. Ability to type at average speed and accuracy required. Ability to learn and operate packaging equipment is required. Ability to operate computer terminal and make independent decisions regarding patient's medications (under the supervision of the pharmacist). Ability to adapt to change in procedures and the environment.
